Avalanche Skills Training for Winter 2010/11
Avalanche Skills Training
We have been AST course providers for the last 10 years. In that time we have helped hundreds of backcountry enthusiasts learn how to be safe in avalanche terrain. The courses usually include a stay at a local backcountry cabin. The AST1 courses are introductory level and are open to skiers and those traveling on snowshoes. The AST2 courses are intermediate level courses open to those who already have some basic avalanche training and have had a few seasons to practice their skills. Intermediate to strong backcountry skiing skills are prerequisites for the AST2 course. The course curriculum is developed by the Canadian Avalanche Centre. For a sample course outlines visit the CAC's website at www.avalanche.ca/CAC_Training_Program .
